Basketball blog by Julia Hardick

Julia Hardick

Julia Hardick is a senior at Orchard Park High School. She is a member of the girls varsity basketball team and will blog throughout the season to provide an inside look at the team. This is her first installment.

As the basketball season starts up again we are all working together to succeed. After many intense down and backs, sectionals, and harsh workouts, I think I speak for the whole team when I say I am glad tryouts are over. Walking up the stairs was a chore after the first few days of tryouts. It took me extra long to get to each of my classes.

With no scrimmages this year we must be ready to jump right into games starting the first week of December which is the West Seneca Tipoff tournament. We are learning our plays and bonding as a team to work for wins.

We are all very excited for bus rides and “secret teamie” gifts (little gifts we anonymously exchange on the team), locker room chants, and getting pumped up before games.

It is a battle deciding what songs to put on the warm-up mix. It has to be the perfect combination of songs to intimidate our opponents. The Lion King remix and techno beats are sure to make the cut.

Our team is very strong this year and I see us being very successful this season and in the future.

Good luck to the girls varsity basketball team!
